SCOTS SWIM IN WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Senior boys swimmer Diego Balbi and junior girls swimmer Alexia Sotomayor Acuna represented Peru in the Junior World Championships last week in Netanya, Israel. Acuna placed 21st in the 200m backstroke, and Balbi advanced to the semifinal swim, ultimately placing 9th. He was just .04 seconds away from securing a spot in the championship final.

Acuna and Balbi also competed in the World Championships this summer in Fukuoka, Japan, and broke Peruvian national records while swimming at the highest level of competition. Balbi said about his experience, “I really enjoyed traveling the world. I’m happy with my accomplishments this summer, but I’m not satisfied”.
