April 3, 2024
Dear Lower School Families,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a chance to rest, relax, and enjoy some family time together. As we return to school this week, we embark on Saint Andrew’s Spiritual Journey Days. These four chapel days will involve our students and faculty throughout all three divisions to explore their relationships with God, neighbor, and self. Spiritual Journey Days will be a series of chapel services held during April. Each service will be grounded in a different religious and cultural tradition, with instrumental and vocal music providing the unifying element.
The Spiritual Journey Days program is a longstanding expression of the Episcopal tradition at Saint Andrew’s School. This program enables our students to explore religious and cultural traditions practiced by people worldwide and right here in the Saint Andrew’s community.
Most religions believe in a higher power and an acceptance of spirit, which is something greater than just human existence. All religions point to the presence of spirit as a source of guidance, support, inspiration, and love. Despite the differences in belief systems, world religions share these common principles. The world religions explored this month include Christianity, Judaism, Native American spiritual traditions, and others. We are all invited to reflect on our own beliefs while embracing how others express their worship beliefs. We hope your children will share their experiences with you this week and throughout the month.
Warmest regards,
Angela Perez Kopels, Ed.D.
